Details of Experience:

Mr. Mondello was admitted to NYU Langone-Long Island Hospital for surgery on July 8, 2023. While in the hospital, he became weaker and required more assistance when standing and walking, including difficulty getting in and out of bed independently. At this point, his care team at the hospital recommended an inpatient rehabilitation stay after he was discharged. The decision of where Mr. Mondello would receive his rehab was an easy one, as he and his wife Debbie had known Kevin Welge, Rockville’s Director of Concierge, for over 20 years, dating back to when Debbie worked at a karate school where Kevin attended as a child.

Mr. Mondello was admitted to Rockville on July 14, 2023, where he was immediately greeted by Kevin, who escorted Mr. Mondello upstairs to his room, where the nursing supervisor was awaiting his arrival. That same day, Mr. Mondello was evaluated by the rehabilitation staff in his room, where they helped him and his wife, Debbie, develop a care plan that would lead him to walk and climb steps again to get into their home.

Upon admission, Mr. Mondello could not get in and out of bed without assistance. Due to this, the therapy program that was developed would help Mr. Mondello slowly re-learn how to accomplish these tasks. After only a couple of weeks, he could once again get in and out of bed with minimal assistance and walk and climb stairs with minimal assistance.

Toward the end of his stay at Rockville, the rehab staff had full confidence that he was ready to be discharged. Mr. Mondello was discharged home on August 14, 2023. He is forever grateful for all the care and support the team at Rockville provided during his stay. We wish him the best with his continued recovery.
