Russ was admitted to Winthrop University Hospital on April 10, 2025, after having surgery on his digestive tract. Due to the length of his hospital stay, 19 days, his hospital care plan team determined that inpatient rehab would be the best course of action to help him regain his strength.
Russ, along with his wife Linda and his care plan team, determined that Rockville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center would be the best place for Russ to receive his rehab, due to their amazing reputation, which includes a consistent 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
When Russ arrived at Rockville, he was greeted by the Director of Concierge Services, Kevin Welge, who helped lead him up to his room. Upon arriving at his room, Russ was greeted by the nursing supervisor, who assisted him in getting settled into his new environment. Shortly afterward, the amazing rehab team completed their initial evaluation and worked with Russ and his family to develop a plan of care for his rehab.
When Russ began his rehab, he could not sit on the edge of the bed without assistance, and he could not transfer himself from the bed to a wheelchair without assistance. However, he is now able to transfer by himself and get dressed on his own, which was a goal he wanted to achieve during his rehab.
Through many hours of hard work and perseverance, he is now able to complete these tasks completely on his own and is forever grateful for all the care and assistance Rockville’s outstanding staff provided during his stay.
