Details of Experience:
Thomas was admitted to Mercy Medical Center on June 13, 2025, after falling. Due to the length of his hospital stay, which lasted 17 days, his hospital care team determined that inpatient rehab would be the best plan of action to help get him back on his feet and regain his strength.
Thomas’s son Jim, along with his care team, determined that Rockville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center would be the best place for Thomas to commence his rehab, due to the amazing reputation their staff has achieved, which includes consistently receiving a 5 Star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
When Thomas arrived at Rockville, he was greeted by the Director of Concierge Services, Kevin Welge, who made sure he arrived in his room. Upon arriving to his room, Thomas was greeted by the nursing supervisor, who helped him settle into his new environment. Shortly after he got settled in, his Physical Therapist, Obi, came to introduce himself and help Thomas understand how they were going to achieve his goal of getting him back on his feet.
When Thomas began his rehab, he was unable to get out of bed without the assistance of two staff members. Obi was determined to help Thomas get out of bed with a minimal amount of assistance, if any at all. Along with this, Thomas also worked on regaining his balance, first just when standing, and then holding on to a walker.
Once Thomas was able to successfully keep his balance with a walker, Obi made sure he could walk at least 50 feet at a time. This was the final goal Thomas needed to achieve to be discharged.
Through hard work, Thomas has achieved all his rehab goals and plans to be discharged and go home on October 6, 2025. Thomas and his family will forever be grateful to the entire staff at Rockville Rehab for their hard work. Rockville wishes him much success as he continues his journey toward better health.
