Eva was admitted to Mercy Medical Center on March 22, 2026, with a foot fracture after falling. After spending over a month in the hospital, Eva’s care team made the determination that inpatient rehabilitation was the next best step, so she could regain her strength, thus allowing her to return home. Eva and her family, along with her hospital care team, determined that Rockville Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center would be the best place for her to complete her rehab because of its reputation for providing outstanding care.
Upon arrival in Rockville, Eva was greeted by Kevin Welge, the Director of Concierge Services, who ensured she settled into her new surroundings comfortably. Eva was later greeted by the nursing supervisor on staff, then by her rehab team. Once she was settled in, Eva was eager to begin her rehab, and the amazing rehab staff was just as eager to help her get started.
When Eva began her rehab, she was unable to transfer to and from her wheelchair without the assistance of two staff members, nor was she able to adjust how she lay in bed without assistance. Eva and her outstanding rehab staff were determined to make sure that by the time she went home, she would be able to transfer and move in bed with as little assistance as possible.
Eva focused on regaining her strength as much as possible through daily exercises, such as a hand bike paired with virtual tours of different countries around the world. Eva also focused on ensuring she could walk with some assistance and use a walker while adjusting to wearing a boot as her foot heals. Eva has continued to participate in all recreational activities to keep her mind sharp.
Through an incredible amount of hard work, Eva can now walk with a walker and boot with very little supervision, and transfer to and from her wheelchair on her own. She is incredibly proud of how far she has come since her admission. Eva and her family will forever be grateful for all of the care and compassion Rockville’s staff have provided.
